# What are Proxies?

A proxy is a tool that hides your IP address from Roblox. For instance, if your IP address is 1.2.3.4 and you use a proxy with an IP of 35.54.123.54:80, Roblox will see the proxy's IP address (34.54.123.54) instead of your actual IP address.

# Why Use Proxies?

Using proxies significantly reduces the chance of rate limits. If Roblox sees 100,000 web requests coming from a single IP, it will identify it as a bot and block requests from that IP. However, if you distribute the 100,000 requests across 1,000 proxies, Roblox will only see 100 requests per IP. This strategy won't trigger their anti-bot mechanisms, helping with speed and preventing blocks from Roblox.
